MFL Launches Pilot Project to Help Workers Unionize
The Manitoba Federation of Labour (MFL) has launched a new pilot project to help workers connect with unions that may represent them.
With the passage of 50% +1 card check legislation by the Manitoba government, it's now easier for workers to unionize — requiring only a majority of signed union cards to form a union, without the need for a vote.
The MFL project aims to take advantage of this change by offering a central resource for workers interested in unionizing, helping them learn about their rights and link with unions in their sector.
Throughout the pilot, advertisements will run across the province to promote the benefits of unionization and measure interest in the project.
