“The True North, Strong and Free” – IFPTE Celebrates Canada Day, Attends Solidarity Event at Canadian Embassy

IFPTE Legislative Director Faraz Khan and IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson at the Canadian Embassy.

On this first day of July 2025, the 90,000 members of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) across North America honour Canada Day.  During these challenging times in which working families in Canada are facing uncertainties due to senseless trade policies being imposed by the Trump Administration, most notably sweeping tariffs, IFPTE is proud to fight arm-in-arm with IFPTE’s Canadian Locals, and Canada’s labour movement overall against these reckless policies.  In doing so, IFPTE was proud to take part in an event at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC today to sing the Canadian National Anthem, while showing our Solidarity and Support for our Canadian Siblings, Sisters and Brothers.  As we celebrate Canada Day this year, let us pay particular attention and respect to the third line in the Canadian National Anthem, “The True North, Strong and Free”, which rings true now more than ever.

The IFPTE family wishes all members of SUP/IFPTE Local 160 (Society of United Professionals), TEAM/IFPTE Local 161, WAPSO/IFPTE Local 162 (Winnipeg Association of Public Service Officers), SCMMA/IFPTE Local 222 (Saskatoon Civic Middle Management Association), and the entire Canadian Labour Movement a happy and safe Canada Day.
