IFPTE Canadian Locals Convene for Semiannual CCL Meeting in Saskatoon
This week, IFPTE Canadian Locals came together for their semiannual Canadian Council of Canadian Locals (CCL) meeting, held both in person in Saskatoon and virtually. Hosted by SCMMA/Local 222, the meeting provided an opportunity for Locals in Canada to discuss key issues affecting members and the broader labour movement.
Leaders from SCMMA/Local 222, the Society/Local 160, TEAM/Local 161, and WAPSO/Local 162 participated, along with IFPTE President Matt Biggs and IFPTE staff from Canada. Special guest Ian Cantello, President of the Regina Civic Middle Management Association, also joined the discussions to share updates on his union’s latest developments.
Discussions covered a range of important issues, including IFPTE’s response to the Trump administration’s attack on federal workers and Canada, expanding the IFPTE Manitoba Legislative Advocacy Conference, and organizing developments in Manitoba and Ontario. Each Local also shared updates on their current priorities and initiatives.
