SCMMA/IFPTE Local 222 Holds Successful Quarterly Membership Meeting

On March 26, SCMMA/IFPTE Local 222 held its quarterly membership meeting, with approximately 200 members attending in person and virtually. The meeting opened with a brief remembrance of Scott Jackson, a valued member who passed away suddenly.

The agenda included an introduction of the new SCMMA Executive Board members, updates on bargaining and the healthcare plan, and a report on Steward outreach efforts to strengthen member engagement in the workplace.

The quarterly membership meeting coincided with the semi-annual IFPTE Council of Canadian Locals gathering in Saskatoon, and Canadian Locals were invited to participate. IFPTE President Matt Biggs addressed the gathering, extending greetings on behalf of the international union. He commended SCMMA for its growth in leadership and its proactive efforts to engage members and strengthen the union. He also expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended to the Canadian Locals. In his remarks, Biggs highlighted IFPTE’s ongoing efforts to counter the Trump administration’s actions impacting Canada and IFPTE members within the U.S. federal sector.
